I think they're trying to, this is obviously looking at, because we always hear appeals and one of these are not, a typical basis for appeal of sentence would be not enough weight given to something.
So the judges are careful to say, we accept the remorse has been shown and a guilty plea has been given.
That is of benefit to the court.
But they also, they couch that by saying how much weight they should give to this remorse.
Rather than saying they're not really remorseful, they're just making it up to get the lesser their sentence, they say they can't give significant weight to it because it literally comes in the middle of a trial.
So there's a limited amount of weight given to it.
And I think that's always, when you see judges sum up, they're aware appeals can come on the basis of what they say.
And... But once the sentences are down, the demeanor of the guys all changes.

I presume they knew roughly what they were going to get.
I mean, look, we haven't seen a book of evidence, so you don't know what the flaws in the case might be.
I mean, you did have an initial statement, as I said, a signed statement that was introduced in court.
There's also a logical explanation for why he's not there.
It's also before the special criminal court, so it's not before a jury.
So, you know, you would think
that certainly a special criminal court would understand something of that nature.
