Always fun.
We're going to talk about the danger of metal.
Dun, dun, dun.
It is a risk.
And people don't realize that it's a very, very common risk in emergency hospitals.
And it basically is from dogs eating pennies.
So back in the sort of 80s, pennies started to be made out of zinc discs with copper around it.
I think it was so that pennies don't cost too much money to make.
Than the actual penny was valued at.
But the problem is, is if a dog ingests a penny, a single penny,
That copper quickly dissolves in the stomach and they absorb the zinc.
Now, also some dog wire crates, the really cheap ones, the wiring is made out of or is coated with zinc to prevent rusting and dogs are going to chew on it.
But zinc intoxication causes lethargy, weakness, pale gums.
They become yellow, like ichthyric, due to liver damage and red blood cell damage.
Like jaundice kind of thing?
Yeah.
Exactly like jaundice.
Yeah, yeah.
And then they collapse.
It's a big deal.
