Not every hitter is able to do that at the major level.
It shows that potential.
One of the reasons they liked him.
It's a guy who people have talked about potential for quite some time.
He's in his late 20s.
He's on his third organization, but people have always seen that power potential in him.
I really liked what I saw last night.
In terms of this stretch...
there is a little bit of lady luck getting involved, right?
When you talk about those 16 games, his batting average on balls in play is over 500.
So more than half of the balls he put in play have been hits.
And if that were tons of doubles and triples, maybe you'd say, okay, the power is really emerging.
He has just been dumping single after single into the outfield.
And I'm not saying that's not effective.
I'm not saying that doesn't help the team.
But when I look ahead, what's Sanchez going to do from here on out?
That doesn't tell me a ton of, okay, he's really established himself and he's going to get there.
But again, can't complain what he did last night.
He gives them some power threat from the left side.
I'd like to see the bat speed come up because last season, that's what made him so intriguing.
