So they're doing a slightly better job of using the funding available to them.
GPs told Kimberley that they wanted to see the funding remain in general practice until 2025, unspent ARRS money was actually clawed back by the Treasury, so it was lost entirely to the NHS budget.
It now stays in regional NHS budgets, but there's actually no guarantee that it'll go into general practice.
Not all areas have a big underspend to play with, but for those that do, practices might hope to see that money recycled into local and arts services of some sort, or maybe even used to support neighborhood plans so that ultimately it comes back into practice funding.
Although, as I said, there are no guarantees.

So working out the numbers on this is a bit messy because uh some ICBs merged and changed from April this year, and we were given underspend figures broken down by the new ICB areas.
But just looking at ICBs that didn't change, most of the underspends seem to have been in the single figures percentage-wise, although one or two appears to have larger underspends.
Understanding why that might be is tough, but it in some cases it could just reflect the fact that some parts of the country struggle to attract the clinical staff.
And it can also be that, you know, it's just difficult to get people to move.
To some parts of the country, it's perhaps also because of the funding available through the ARS, which often GPs say is just not enough to provide an attractive salary.
Just to put this in context, we know that there's, you know, we've been reporting on it for some months, that, you know, years even, that there's significant underemployment in general practice.
We know that many GPs are either unable to find work or unable to find as much work as they want.
So to know that there's this big block, 81 million pounds of
Funding available essentially to general practice, all of which now can be used to recruit GPs.
To know that that funding's there.
and it hasn't been able to be spent on recruiting GPs is particularly frustrating.
The current wave of collective action began at the start of May, and the BMA GP Committee has said that each month it will step up action, another notch to keep pressure building on the government over disputed changes to the contract for 26-27, as you said.
The first phase at the start of May involved the BMA asking practices to limit data sharing.
Praxis were asked to use a template letter to tell their ICB that they would stop agreeing to voluntary secondary uses data sharing agreements.
