And so there's a history, there's a bedrock of doubting elections.
There are years of evidence, of audacious schemes, of rhetoric designed to crack trust in the very democratic institutions that have upheld this country for 250 years.
And this executive order.
That is before the Supreme Court, affecting male voting.
Is just the latest and possibly successful attempt at further eroding trust in our electoral process.

Now, it's important to remember the Constitution grants no authority to the executive branch over elections.
But that hasn't stopped the Trump administration from leaning on their agencies to try and enact policies that would change the way we vote by getting private voter data through the Department of Justice or investigating the specter of non-citizens voting through the Department of Homeland Security.
when there is little to no evidence of widespread non-citizens voting, they've also sought to change congressional maps.
And this is perhaps the most direct way they're looking to influence the midterm elections in their favor.
Leaning on Republicans in state legislatures, they've redrawn congressional maps in a host of states, creating newly safe Republican districts intended to give them an advantage heading into a midterm election that, based on polling,
looks to be fairly difficult for Republicans.

I think one thing that's clear is that this is starting a new chapter in what has become a national redistricting arms race.
You know, the guardrails that were once there that kept legislatures in check are now even fewer.
And so when we pivot to what that might look like to the midterms, the picture's a little muddy, but we can break it down by a few states.
The first would be Louisiana.
