And sort of without even, honestly, without realizing it, I was becoming a Blackbird employee just by asking for things that was common sense at the time that were gonna help me.
But I didn't have this plan, like I've got to get into VC.
It was just like, this is something I really enjoy and it will help me to get better at it if you let me into partner meetings.
But then you look at what Blackbird is now and like Blackbird is a success now, right?
Like I really feel like that's the most successful thing that I've ever been a part of.
but I didn't start it.
I've been a massive contributor to it, but I didn't start it.
And again, I want to talk about luck.
You know, it was that coffee with Nikki.
It was those early days of just pursuing this interest that I had in helping founders.
And then that just, and then I started angel investing and then I would send my ideas to Nikki and say, what do you think about this?
And all of it was the perfect way to apply for a job at Blackbird.
And at no point did I realize that's what I was doing.
Not anymore.
We have job ads.
People apply.
It's unconventional in the sense that when people apply for jobs at Blackbird, they submit a set of responses to three or four questions that we have.
And when we score them, each member of the hiring team will score each answer completely blind to who that person is.
So, when someone applies, we don't know gender, name, LinkedIn, anything.
All we know is the quality of the answer they submitted.
