The fact that of all the people in that stadium in Cleveland that night in Game 7, they showed me and my mom swaying, looking like I'm going to throw up.
Sometimes you just think that things are meant to be.
And absolutely, for me, as I look back, there was a reason I was sitting there.
My grandma, I always feel like she is looking out for me.
And she was a lifelong Cubs fan.
And I just believe in something bigger than all of this.
And I think if you're a Cubs fan, that's how you were born.
grown up and taught about what it means to be a fan of that team being in that place.
So it was just a real special moment as a fan that I always remember.
Layla, I'm so glad you mentioned that, and I'm getting goosebumps as you say it, because Game 7 in Cleveland happened, and it ended, and the first person I called, the only person I wanted to talk to, was my grandma, who was 88 at that time, and she's the reason I became a Cubs fan.
She grew up...
right down the street from Wrigley.
And I would watch the games with her on WGN, coming home from school, turning on Harry Carey.
And as happy as I was in the moment on Saturday and the fact that I was able to hand Rizzo the ball and have that moment, the only person I wanted to talk to was my grandma.
But sadly, she had passed.
But I kept thinking, she's with me.
She's sitting here watching all this, just crack it up.
There's no place that she'd rather see me at than Wrigley.
So every Cubs fan I know has some kind of connection like that.
