Yeah, so sort of, yeah, grey, purpley, black colour.
Basically, when the sun's out, they're feeding.
And obviously in Africa, they need some protection from the sun.
So yeah, that's why the tongue's that colour, so it doesn't get sunburned when it's out browsing all day.
Yeah, no, I've been licked a few times.
It's a very, very slobbery tongue, so they have a lot of saliva on the tongue, and it's actually got antiseptic properties, so obviously in Africa they eat a lot of acacia, so lots of thorns, so occasionally they do get cuts and scrapes on their tongue, but yeah, they've got antiseptic saliva, so it helps it heal quicker.
Yep, so, yeah, about sort of 45 centimetres.

Yep, so they're fully prehensile, so they can grip things easily.
Yeah, I think it just helps along with the neck.
They can already reach stuff that other animals can't, but then they've got the tongue as well.
It just helps them pull the branches closer to their mouth and grip the leaves, pull the branches in, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
And they can wrap their tongue around a branch and then pull it back, taking all the leaves with it.
Sort of strip the... Yeah, just strip the leaves.
