I think this created a new category on my bucket list because I didn't realize that we would have a chance of documenting the remains of these superhighways on the seafloor.
I bet there are shark teeth down there.
I bet there are parts of smaller whales that are just not easily seen.
So you're collecting what you can see from a submersible, and that's
tends to be the bigger stuff.
The researchers report a preponderance of beaked whales and beaked whales are among the most species rich group of whales on the planet.
And we hardly know anything about them.
And I think that's one of the big messages I take away is that if you're talking about being on the edge of scientific discovery, oh my gosh, the seafloor is where it's at.
You will find more surprises just like this one, but it takes a bit of effort and knowing where to look.
