Well, I think the problem is, you know, Oregon hasn't been able to play very well on defense, which is uncharacteristic for Dan Lanning and his teams because he's a defensive guy.

They've always been good.

I think some of the issue is they have two new coordinators, which is kind of like your second lieutenants when you're a head coach.

And when you have all these changes on your roster and then you have some guys coming back

I mean, how does that all mesh together?

And I think when you have continuity in your staff, it helps you be able to overcome those things.

But it doesn't look like Oregon sort of meshed together yet.

Now, hopefully, you know, they can get it right and get it back on track.

But right now, they haven't played very good football the first two weeks.

Huge deal.

First of all, you got culture, you got system.

So what I always wanted to do when I hired new coordinators was hire guys that were going to have the character, the leadership, the ability to present so that they could affect players in a positive way.

But I also wanted to buy into the system because I didn't want to hire independent contractors that was going to come in and change everything

for 50 players in the room who already knew the system that we were in that was already successful that they were loyal to.

So how that all fits together and getting the right guy that's smart enough to be able to adapt to what you want to do, but also have input in adding things that will help that and make it better, but still impact the players in a positive way, that was always a challenge.

Now, fortunately, I had a couple times where, unfortunately, we didn't hire the right guys, and they couldn't do that.

And that was really a tough thing for the head coach trying to manage, the toughest thing I ever had to deal with.
