It's actually not dissimilar in many ways.

And if you look at the symptom profiles of celiac disease and non-celiac wheat sensitivity, there's a lot of overlap of the symptoms.

The tissue transglutaminose blood tests.

The the answer is um it depends.

I I think it depends on your clinical suspicion that you know, and obviously a doctor needs to review the situation.

But I must admit, if you suspect you weed intolerant, it's not unreasonable to rule out celiac disease.

It's certainly a very important diagnosis to make.

And as you said, people on w with this disease need a lifelong gluten free diet and there's benefits definitely in celiac disease for that lifelong diet.

So the way that currently this is formally diagnosed is to do a double blind trial of wheat exposure.

So you take people off wheat or gluten and then you expose people in a blinded fashion to wheat or gluten.

And uh you see if the symptoms are if they reoccur.

And basically that's the uh current goal standard way of doing this.

It's complex, takes time, it's not a routine clinical procedure.

And if you do that, well it could could bankrupt bankrupt the nation if fifteen percent of the population have it.

I'm not suggesting we do this in everybody at this stage, but I'm just saying that's the goal standard.

So in the research that we're doing, for example, this is what we are doing.

We are looking at this particular approach to try and identify those who have real wheat sensitivity and then try and identify both markers in biopsies and in blood that may help us sort out who truly has this syndrome.

Well, we always rule out celiac disease in our research.

In clinical practice, if we have people with symptoms who say they're wheat intolerant or wheat sensitive or gluten or possibly gluten sensitive, we also look for celiac disease.
