One, she described as being sort of forced to eat fried chicken from a shack.
And I thought, well, that sounds incredible to me.
But it's something that happens.
But I think it's so easily avoided that it kind of shocks me when it does still happen.
I think the most important thing, if you're planning a group trip, like I just went away with seven friends.
And right at the first conversation we had,
was exactly about what we want to spend what our budget is and what we want to do on a holiday and if you disagree you can do something else you uh you have the freedom to to go and do whatever you like so I mean it sounded like a miserable experience but I'm not sure it was the uh the practicalities of budget that made it so miserable rather than the sort of the dour faces of
Yeah, I mean, she booked the trip.
They were all on a sort of a group package to Costa Rica, which also to me doesn't sound like a sort of budget holiday anyway.
But I think sort of maybe the places that they were staying weren't up to her standards, but it also wasn't a surprise.
She'd have known right from the get-go what she was getting into.
And I think it is really important as well to sort of respect everyone's budget and wishes.
Like one of the women on the trip was a nurse.
And it's like, well, if you can't maybe pick up a round in the bar and buy that poor nurse a drink when she can't afford it, then there's a bigger issue at play as well.
So she described what I mean.
not you're not going to be buying everyone's dinners but they were in a situation they were in a bar and the dress the drinks were costing around a five or each uh she wants to have another round they couldn't afford it um so she says that they stomped off but i think surely the solution would have just been to nip off to the bar get everyone around and come back and say hey great news we're staying for another hour so what what advice do you have for people if you are on a holiday where the budget is tight where do you pull back and where do you spend the money that you have
I think that's a really personal decision, but it's also one that's really important to make before you sort of even book the trip.
Some people want to stay somewhere that's a little bit more at the budget end and spend their money on great food or activities.
