None of them would end up in a museum, but they are very exciting to hold in your hand something that, you know, is is the the relic of something that lived hundred and ninety million years ago.

And I think that what what's existing here is a tension, a tension between the need for there to be fossil hunters and a need for scientists to be able to access those specimens and be able to study them.

And I think it's not straightforward as to how that would necessarily be solved.

That's a really interesting question, and certainly there are countries around the world who are looking at that.

I think it's important to note, obviously, that the UK has fossils from lots of other countries as well.

It's not like we only have our own fossils in our collections.

And indeed, the Natural History Museum in Abu Dhabi have said to tell the story of the world's past, you need sort of fossils from all over the place.

You can't just sort of have one set.

However, at the main

What's really interesting is that

There is a situation where if you had, for example, some sort of antiquity or beautiful painting or something that was deemed to be really significant to the nation, that can, under a set of criteria, basically been deemed to be a national treasure and a temporary export bank be placed on it.

And that means that it has to be offered to UK institutions and they had to be given an opportunity to bid for it.

Uh and if they don't stump up the funds then it can be sold overseas.

But that doesn't include fossils.

So at the moment fossils don't really have any export licenses required.

Um and there's now been a move to

try to get the government to change the rules.
