Oh, so I'm jumping around a little bit, but I was writing the investment property column for the financial review for a little while, and I found that the top end of the market was disproportionately serviced.
And I thought it was really important to talk to young people and say that you actually can have smashed avocado and buy property too, you just can't have everything.
So this is me about ten years ago on a Tuesday night.
That sort of behaviour wasn't unusual.
Working as a journalist I was invited to a lot of fancy events where there was free champagne and canapes.
The problem with free champagne is then you go out for more champagne that you pay for and then you get a taxi home.
So I was not living my best financial life.
I racked up a lot of debt
Pretty much just in my career, just living work-wise, going out after work, hanging out with friends, going to the pub on Friday night, doing what most millennials do, travelling, and really not thinking about my finances at all.
I'm super envious of Kate.
I did not have the support of someone like Susan.
Not that my mum's not fantastic, but she was like, ''Eh, you'll work it out.''
