Yes, and I think that's why they're rolling out these tools really slowly, and they're testing it with a limited subset of people and then broadening it out to a wider audience.
They definitely don't want to break a fundamental communication tool for 3 billion people, which is the size of Gmail's platform.
Gmail is definitely the dominant email provider and has been
for a long time.
But for sure, Outlook is giving Gmail a run for its money.
And there are also AI native inboxes from companies like Superhuman and Fixer AI that do all of the things that I've just mentioned already.
But they are pricey because they're aimed at a corporate consumer.
And so Gmail's rollout of these kinds of features is really compelling because it's more likely that your mom and your cousin and...
your colleagues will all start to use these kinds of tools.
Especially deepfake voice scams. And there are billions of dollars lost every year in this type of cybercrime. Anyone who has a buck and some time to can learn a lot about you. And the more they know about you, the more enticing and convincing that attack can be.
You have to live off the grid, avoid online shopping, never sign up for a credit card. I realize that this is extremely hard to do, but you can prevent some of this information from leaking out.
But that's not all. Turn on do not track on your phone. This prevents the tracking of activity across different websites. And that's what allowed data brokers to connect your behavior as you search the web. And that information is for sale.
These services ask each data broker and people search database to remove your information from them. You have to pay them a fee, but you don't have to pay them to give you an exposure report.
You feel a little uneasy. A home address is something that we think of as private because it's where our physical presence is. But in fact, it's data that appears in hundreds, if not thousands of databases, because every time we shop online, we input our address. It's a part of public record if you own a home, if you have applied for a driver's license or subscribe to a magazine.
This information is out there and these websites, people search sites or data brokers can purchase this information from a variety of sources or request it from the government. And they collate it in this dossier that includes other information, including your birth date, maybe one site included my grandma's name that I found from the Google's results about you tool.
