It's like somebody saying, well, you know, I've had all these diets that I've tried before and I'm just, diets don't work for me.
Like I'm just going to be out of shape and unhappy for the rest of my life or whatever it might be.
Right.
And there's a difference between making a lifestyle change that's good and
and in alignment with you and sustainable versus getting on a crash diet.
And I think most people when they're on their own or they have these influences that are stressing them out so intensely of, Oh God, you know, I have to make this big change.
They kind of throw themselves into that diet because they just want to see something fast.
And what they end up doing is really burning out.
And then they usually end up spending more as a result.
And there's an identity shift that happens when you start to have wins.
So when you have decades and decades or years and years of this binge fail, it's very easy to feel this is the only outcome.
And so I think that's why quick wins at the beginning are so important, like with the debt snowball, with the
audit that we do with clients when we help them align with their values, when we start to brainstorm, how can we actually get more money towards your values?
Like there's a lot of exciting stuff that comes from working on your money.
And I'll give you like a few examples, right?
We immediately think of what has to leave my life, right?
How do I have to take on more time at work?
How do I spend less at the grocery store?
It's all these negative images we have where other consequences of working on your money means that you get to spend more money on the things you really care about.
You get clearer with your spouse about your financial goals and discover the ones you really have in common.
