Our next witness contacted us through Facebook to say he was working outside McDaniel's pub on the night Elizabeth was taken.
that pool there The next person who contacted us is called Gillian Mills On the 28th of August 1976 Gillian was 16 years old and she was in British Bay She'd been in McDaniel's pub as well Witness number 8 It was a busy typical busy Saturday night in a pub on a sunny you know everybody probably giddy after the days swimming and enjoying the weather
Earlier this year, Gillian met up with Bernie Kathleen and solicitor James McGill in British Bay to recall the incident she remembers.
We were staying in Rockfield, so left.
We were camping in a tent, not in a caravan.
At the end of the evening, Gillian and her friend set out to walk back to Rockfield, where they were staying.
I remember it was dark, but it's midsummer, so yeah, it probably was 11, half 11.
We were walking home, two of us.
So I'm thinking it was somewhere maybe along here because this is a bend.
I know I was on a bend.
And I recall my friend pulling me in towards her a little bit, saying, you're very far out.
I do remember a noisy car, you know, one that's being revved or driven very fast, erratically.
And just as she spoke to me, I just got this wallop down my arm.
And I remember being thrown into the ditch and the car never stopped.
The injuries that I have...
relate to the fact that I was on the outside walking towards Rockfield.
On this side, not that side.
I have a chip in my elbow, hand, knee, and that would corroborate with some 50-year-on later arthritis.
The other thing I do vividly remember, somebody stopped and stayed who was not my friend, this other man, and he was more interested in watching my chest, my clothing, than doing anything else.
That has stayed with me forever.
