And there's a few things I really, I think, like, want to hone in on, like, why I like this show as a concept before I go through, like, each of these, you know, like, the rat lifts and, like, the dynamics and the characters in the show specifically. What I think is so fascinating about Mike White as a writer is that he came from reality TV.

He had years of experience watching the way people actually interact with each other in these very personal Petty, awkward, and interesting social dynamics. And I think that has made him an incredible writer of scripted television. And how that made him so brilliant at writing this very simple dialogue. I felt like there was no greater example of that this season with really the three girls.

And I think like this is so fascinating and also very, very much ties into the speech that Laurie, Carrie Coon's character gives at the end, like this incredible monologue. But I just felt like this idea of like old friends make you suffer simply by existing. Not even necessarily because of anything they have done, but because their life makes you reflect on your own choices, right?

It's why you kind of feel sad sometimes like going to a friend's wedding when you haven't gotten married yet, or you see all these amazing things. Maybe they had a family and you didn't have a family. And even if you don't regret those choices, those decisions, it makes you turmoil over them. It makes you feel kind of insecure or anxious or whatever.

And I feel like that was really very intentional with these three women. You know, like they were very meant to be like three people came from the same place that went entirely different ways. Even down to the thing how he's like one lives in L.A., one lives in New York, one lives in Austin, Texas. Right.

And when even going to, again, like this monologue at the end with Carrie Coon to quote it, she says, I never had any real belief system. Work was my religion, but then I lost my belief there. And then I tried love, and that was just a painful religion that made everything worse.
