I felt like I had been so much accumulation of bad decisions and wrong turns that I had this knot tangled up in my mind.
And I needed someone to help me untangle it, you know, because I didn't know how to do it myself.
And so when I was able to sit down with somebody, with a therapist,
They were able to help me do it myself.
I untangled the knot, but they were kind of helping me along the way, giving me these tools, you know, like visualization or like breathing techniques or all the, you know, this one thing called the worry chair, which, you know, I spent a lot of my time in tomorrow.
I'm a little bit of a worrywart and I got a lot of anxiety in me.
And so I'm always concerned about what's coming.
Is everything going to be all right?
And stuff like that.
And, you know, little practices like that, like when you feel that feeling of worrying, it's because you immediately dwell on it and ruminate on it because you're not good at compartmentalizing.
And we've always kind of took that as like a bad word, but it's not a bad word.
You know, sometimes you need to be able to put things in their place, you know, so that you can be at your best in a situation where you don't need to be worrying about that stuff.
Like, for instance, when you're with your daughter and you're playing with her, you know, you don't want to be stressing about everything.
is everything going to go good with the album?
Or, you know, how's this upcoming tour going to do?
You know, are people going to still show up?
Because us artists, we're so insecure by nature, or speaking for myself, I know I am, you know?
And so I would just, whenever I'd have that thought, I would push it out and save it for the worry chair.
And the worry chair would just be a 30-minute moment in my day where I'd sit in a chair, preferably a highly uncomfortable one, because she said, if you get comfortable in the chair...
It's going to help you with, you're going to want to start ruminating stuff because you're going to feel comfortable.
