President Trump announced on social media this morning that he intends to impose higher tariffs on European allies until the U.S.

is allowed to buy Greenland from Denmark.

He said 10 percent tariffs will go into effect February 1st, rising to 25 percent on June 1st.

A bipartisan congressional delegation from the U.S.

is in Copenhagen to reassure officials.

Senator Chris Coon says the U.S.

has respect for Denmark and NATO.

In Greenland, hundreds of people braved icy streets and freezing temperatures to protest Trump's repeated threats to take over the Danish territory.

Protests were also held in cities across Denmark.

A federal judge in Minnesota is restricting immigration agents from retaliating.
