But what's different in the automotive world is that the retailer is up front about that suggested price.
So you know where you're starting from.
So the factory sets a price.
That's what's on your window sticker.
And that's usually the starting point for negotiations and goes down from there.
But the reverse is happening.
That's the starting point for negotiations, and it's going up from there.
Yeah, so there's two different sort of price adjustments going on.
Some are what dealers call market value adjustments, which is where they just hike the price because they can.
And the other is an adjustment where they're giving you something in return.
So they have preloaded it with paint protection or wheel well protectors or a pickup truck bed liner.
So you are still paying $100,000, $1,000, $2,000 over.
Sticker price, but at least you get something in return.

But this is definitely already a process that's been changing for many years.
The average consumer is just so educated now and knows exactly what they want to pay when they go in.
haggling has really changed a lot.
And it changes even more when there's really nothing to haggle over.
You show up to the Cadillac dealership and he's the only one with the Escalade that you want in a 600-mile radius.
What are you haggling over?
