84-year-old Nancy Guthrie hasn't been seen since the 1st of February.

The mother of the popular morning TV presenter Savannah Guthrie, her disappearance was headline news even before a ransom demand was received for $6 million in bitcoins.

We don't see a lot of kidnappings, right?

Especially this is like a new age kidnapping.

Usually people want a million dollars in a bag dropped off somewhere and then they put it there and the police run up and grab them.

Messages posted to social media have been the family's only means of making contact with the kidnappers as a ransom deadline came and went with no sign of their mother.

Days later, however, detectives landed their biggest break in the case so far.
