They've always wanted to appeal to conservatives, to liberals, to everyone under the sun.
And for the most part, they've been able to get away with that.
And they've been able to do that just as CBS and NBC have as well.
I think right now in our polarized information system, they're learning, the executives are, that that's really challenging, if not impossible.
Because if you have a news organization, for instance, that is committed to the facts, they're going to, by default, be at odds with Donald Trump because Donald Trump's lying every five seconds.
Anytime he opens his mouth, he's lying.
And so if you have a news network that's fact-checking what politicians are saying, you're going to, by default, alienate people who like Donald Trump.
And that's just the reality.
Same with Kimmel.
If you have someone who's going to take jabs at this administration...
Well, it turns out that Donald Trump's one of the most thin-skinned men to ever live, right?
To ever occupy a powerful seat like the Oval Office.
And so if you have a Jimmy Kimmel, if you have a Stephen Colbert or a Jon Stewart, you're going to alienate the president, which is going to alienate his fans.
And so you can either be safe and kiss up to the president and bend the knee, and that's going to piss off the liberals who actually kind of like your show, or...
You know, you are going to just have to live with the fact that you're going to be on the enemies list, so to speak, of the president and the MAGA movement.
And it's really one or the other.
It's going to be very challenging to appeal to the entire country.
And it seems to me with this decision, Don, that Disney's kind of coming to terms with that reality.
