In Meta, it seems like big enough that it'll be difficult to suddenly increase the salaries.
So the reason why this I feel is the way of the future is because when you have these huge productivity gains, if it all goes to the company, it makes people feel that is not fair.
Now, what that means is that potentially, again, depending on the company.
And what visibility they have into what you're doing, it means that it's possible that today you have somebody working in a company, he has some what we call shadow AI.
He has his personal ChatGPT account to help him.
Then he can accelerate the work five times more, but he has no incentive to tell anyone because this is one of these things that you dig a bigger ditch, they'll give you a bigger shovel, they're not gonna give you like basically they give you more work and not give you more money.
So I believe that what we need is a better alignment of incentives, right?
So as people get better at this, they produce more than and this is what I try to do myself is like really reward people who adopt this and through that share the productivity gain.
Now, to be fair, it's not that like in my own company, if I were selling X last year, now I'm selling 20x because of this, right?
Like this against like your actual top line and bottom line, but from a
larger perspective, if you're really able to achieve the same outcome and the same numbers with less people, it would make sense to kind of distribute it in a different way.
It's like a mindset shift, right?
To people, both the employees and employers, like a social contract.
No, you're selling me hours, I'm paying you salary, then I own you for this nine to five period.
It doesn't matter what you're doing.
To the employee, it perhaps is more like, oh, for the past five years I'm doing exactly this kind of
Scope every day.
So how can you expect me to do five times more than pay me the same?
So there's a bit of a tension here.
By the way, paying everybody double is also for established businesses, unlike startups, perhaps, is that the competitive dynamic may also compress their income.
