He was speaking to Shamark Rovers Media in the immediate aftermath of the defeat.
We'll come to the league in a moment.
But why have they given up too many soft goals in Europe this year, huh?
Well between bad defending as a team uh and individual errors, as uh Stephen has um assumed there that he said, you know, giving up soft goals.
And if you think they've conceded ten goals away from home in Europe, they've scored eleven goals at home and their home performance has been excellent.
It's just when they've gone on their travels, whether that's a mixture of, you know, playing more attacking players rather than defensive players, I often think that, you know, looking at Rovers this year, when they play with five at a back, they get away
in the league because they're allowed more attacking players 'cause the league is probably not up to the rovers level.
But in Europe when they play those uh wide players that are total wingers rather than defenders, it comes back to haunt them a little bit and we've seen that over the last couple of games when they've gone away from home.
And you see tonight he sort of changed it a little bit more defensively on one side
Letting the other side uh you know be more attacking wise down the left with Fitzgerald um and bringing Grace, you know, as a back three, Grace Lopez and Stevens, hoping that they'll hold it out with Suwali on the on the right was probably a little bit more defensive.
But unfortunately, as he said, giving up the soft goals comes back in Hanson.
And again, tonight is it is a really soft goal considering rovers are are very good on set pieces and you see the ball just played into a back stick.
It's just a hopeful ball, it's not a well-worked free kick.
It's just a hole for ball into the back stick and heads back across and unfortunately it's an O G.
Do you
think Rovers properly got to grips with the difference in approach that's required in the League of Ireland to Europe this season?
It seemed to be something that they had nailed.
over the past couple of years, but obviously you're favourites in every single game in Ireland and you've got a bit more of an underdog mentality, even if you like you would they would have started the Coop's game last week, for example, as as favourites, so they wouldn't have been underdogs going into that game.
But in a general sense the standard is is higher.
Have they been able to adapt to those different challenges enough this season?
