But then the question comes back to, do we live in an ordinary functioning banking environment or not?
But Economics 101 says fixed is an insurance and therefore there's a cost to that insurance and therefore it shouldn't work over time.
But sometimes it does.
Okay, so the first question I was asking, €60,000 is what's coming into the household.
Do you survive on a day-to-day basis?
Like, are you okay?
Okay, and when you say you're in the minus, is that overdraft or credit cards, or are you dipping into savings, or how are you managing to get through to the next month then?
OK, first thing you need to do is tackle that overdraft.
Right.
So what you're on there is a financial treadmill.
Overdrafts, credit cards, any type of short term debt, whether that's car loans, personal loans, doesn't matter what it is.
I call it crappy debt.
There's happy debt and there's crappy debt.
Happy debt is for mortgages.
They're hard loans to get.
The interest rates tend to be low and you buy stuff that goes up in value over long periods of time.
Crappy debt is debt that's...
Either you buy depreciating assets with it, like a car, or you consume it straight away, like sticking a meal on a credit card.
That's a crappy debt.
And crappy debt is a financial treadmill and you're going to find it really hard to get out of that.
