So much variety, we thought that is a nice way of really showcase diversity uh and how, you know, all that multicultural influence that that the the city encompasses to.

Oh, Kavalti is so special and I think

Um it is more than a meal for us, for all the t all all the Turks I presume and all the different uh communities that live in the city.

One of the very first things I long to have as soon as I land and the word kahwalte comes from the Ottoman Turkish Kahwe alte.

Kahve means kofi, alte means before.

So the meal eaten

before drinking coffee because everything literally around uh evolves around the coffee which which we'll talk later.

Just imagine gathering with your family and friends by the beautiful Bosphorus Strait in a nice breakfast cafe um

ideally at the weekend because weekdays um everyone is busy and there's this unrushed slow enjoyment of

Eggs done different ways from men a man to to eggs with sujuk or could be a lovely

plate uh with bur eggs and different kind of cheese, honey.

Jams, um it could be simit of course, our street food or Guzlem, the pancakes with different fillings.

Um I love that nutty nutty beautiful breakfast that we have with walnuts.

Um but I love the fact that it slows you down.

You have a sip of chai, you have a conversation, have a bite to eat, another another thing comes through.

Then you have a ketchup, maybe have a paper in front of you that you're looking at it.

It's just a constant feast that is so precious for us because it is togetherness, it's sharing.

Or we put we might be gathering in my mum late mum's home and doing that feast.

Um and then it then it finishes with a nice um coffee, tuk chukka at the end.

A lovely way to do a weekend.
