Well, I had a broker run the numbers for me because I thought the real numbers would be more useful.

So we used the same female driver, same car, clean, no claims bonus, and all we changed was the penalty points.

So on a clean license for that female driver, the quote was 586 euro a year.

I had three points and that went up 15%, six points.

up nearly 40%.

Nine points, the premium jumped to 1,447.

So that's 147% higher, nearly two and a half times the clean licence price.

And crucially, at nine points, the mainstream insurers were backing away and wouldn't even quote in some cases.

So the driver got pushed to a specialist.

And obviously at 12 points, you have legal disqualification.

So quite a big jump there.

Well, I mean, look, it is to a degree.

Obviously, at the lower end, you know, a hiccup isn't punished that radically.

But, look, you're looking at risk.

So if someone is clocking up points for speeding in particular, which is the main offence, you would see that.

But when people start racking them up, obviously, you become a higher risk.

Yeah, of the half a million drivers with points, the vast majority, 370,000 are sitting at three points, which is the minimum you can pick up, usually a single speeding offence or something like that.

About 911 points and 1,000 right on the 12 points.

So most people with points aren't serial offenders.

They've won't blemish.
