I've driven about 30 years and I've never been rat tested.
And my life is driving cars and I haven't once.
So yeah, I mean, look, it's a survey of one, but I think it's an experience that many people would say they haven't been tested.
Yeah, it is.
And look, there's RSA stats that back that up in terms of attitude.
You know, one in four people think that there's no issue in driving a short distance if you've had alcohol, which is sort of beggar's belief because of, you know, a huge amount of accidents occur within a short distance from home.
So it is a worrying stat.
Yeah, it is.
And look, it is a huge factor in terms of behaviour.
If you don't feel that you're going to be tested or potentially caught, then that's where the risk comes in.
And human nature being what it is, people see the risk as not a huge one.
No, it's not.
And, you know, certainly Alcohol Action Ireland are calling for targets.
And if you look at the likes of Australia, they would have a target that each licensed driver would be tested once per year.
And we are nowhere near that.
They're stating that there's a 1 in 3% chance of being caught drink driving.
Now, I don't know if those figures really tell the full story because a lot of the checkpoints would be at very targeted and in particular targeted areas.
