You know, and so um I was there with the other media.
Back in the day, we used to stay in the same hotel as the all blacks.
And anyway, we're uh a couple of days out from the test match, sitting around the pool having lunch.
You know, it's beautiful.
Uh there's a guy at the outdoor table next to me.
next to us.
Uh big big guy, uh we found that lady was a German guest, I think, um, probably in his early seventies.
Anyway, he was slumped over this outdoor table just in a pair of togs, uh, with a half drunk bear in front of him.
Um, we just thought he was having a sleep, you know, like he'd drunk too much and having a wee sleep.
Later that night I'm I'm closing the curtains of my hotel room window and I look out and this guy's still there.
Oh and now it's cold, right?
It's cold.
You should not be in a pair of togs out there.
Hasn't moved either.
The half drunk bear's still in front of him.
I thought, oh no, this this guy's not sleeping.
You know, like um and this is this is a story about how how cheap life was back then.
Or it could be a customer uh service story because I ring up the receptionist.
And I go, Oh, good day, it's uh Mr.
McRoberts here from room three two oh one.
