I have a little bit of Paradise Lost.
I'm not going to do the very beginning.

So this is from late in the poem, from book nine.
Paradise Lost is a poem about Genesis or reimagination and expansion of Genesis.
This is from book nine, after Eve has already eaten from the tree.
Spoiler alert.
Eve is already eaten from the tree of knowledge and Adam knows what she's done and decides to eat from it as well and I picked this passage because I think it says a lot about Milton's project which we'll get to maybe a little bit later with thee certain my resolution is to die
How can I live without thee?
How forego thy sweet converse and love so dearly joined?
To live again in these wild woods forlorn.
Should God create another Eve and I another rib afford, yet loss of thee would never from my heart.
No, no, I feel the link of nature draw me.
Flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone thou art, and from thy state mine never shall be parted, bliss or woe.
It's about everything.
It's about who we are and how we got to be the way we are.
And I think that's the beautiful thing about this genre.
And it defies our sort of categories of making sense of literature today.
