And what he was doing in context is he was just saying, hey, let's be very careful about what we are doing as people in power because we may not always be in power.
And so I would just pause and I would say to Governor Abbott, I would say to Trump, I would say to every MAGA member that is beyond thrilled because they're in a position of power, great, pause.
what happens when the powers you approve today are inherited by someone you disagree with tomorrow because here's what i know that is very likely and the reason i say that is because for evangelical christians they may look at the situation in texas and probably a lot of them do i grew up evangelical my parents probably absolutely haven't talked to him about it but i'm sure they're like yes
look at us this is why we voted for trump because man we're getting christian again bringing god back in schools okay i just want to pause and say this as you celebrate the fact that you have now made the bible required reading in the state of texas are you okay if mom dunny in new york city makes the quran required reading
Are you okay with that?
Because I want to remind you, I want to remind you that you will not always be in power.
And I think it's okay for people on the underside of power to leverage that, to just say, hey, let this be a check and a balance for you.
In a world where there seems to be no checks and balances, one thing that they can't deny is that all leadership, eventually all positions of power fade.
They do.
And the reason I know that, check it out, Governor Abbott, because I've read the Bible.
And the Roman Empire is no more, right?
The Assyrians are no more.
The Babylonians, the greatest empire of the day in the Old Testament, are no more.
Positions of power come and they go.
And I don't care who's in that position of power, it will eventually fade.
And I'm in Atlanta right now in the heart of the Bible Belt.
Got a church filled with people.
And I have to tell you something.
We all collectively feel it.
