Think about the line that Thomas Jefferson gave, right?
This is just kind of like, this is, when I went to seminary, it was like church history, American history 101.
I mean, these are basic principles that I'm not sure a lot of the people in our administration ever even encountered, or if they have, they've somehow twisted it in their minds to make it sound like something else.
But Thomas Jefferson's the one who coined the phrase of separation of church and state.
And what he was doing is he was writing a letter, 1802.
He was writing a letter, not to atheists.
He was writing a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association.
And what he was saying to them was, because they were concerned, they were being oppressed by like a state religion, the Congregationalists.
And what he was saying was, hey, let me explain, let me break down the Constitution.
And that's when he said it.
I contemplate with sovereign reverence the act of the whole American people which declared that their legislator should make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state.
And then let's move to 1797.
It was unanimously approved by the Senate and signed by President John Adams.
Quote, the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.
So all I'm saying is, is these people that are like forcing their religion on Americans, they're having to move over the founders themselves.
And they can twist it and turn it and try to convince themselves that the founders were for it.
But the founders, even the ones that were Christian, are like...
One thing we know as Christians is we do not want to create a space where any religion is forced on America.
And here's what I would say.
We are not a Christian nation, Don.
