Um, now Patrick Nevin took grave exception to that and there was a big row in the venue where this was happening and he left and he went back to the accommodation he was sharing with this, this young woman.

And when he got back to their apartment, he killed their two dogs and dumped them in the hallway inside the front door.

So when she came back and walked through the door, she was confronted by the sight of her two dead dogs.

And the next thing she was confronted by was Patrick Nevin coming at her armed with a knife.

And over the next while inside that house,

He punched her repeatedly.

At one stage, he asked her whether she wanted to die by being choked or whether she wanted to die by being stabbed.

He told her during the course of that assault, now this is quite obviously untrue, but he told her that he had already killed 10 people and would she like to be the 11th?

And it seemed like he was out of his mind.

The more she shouted for help, the more he punched her.

She did fear she was going to die and grabbed the brick from somewhere at some stage and tried to fight him off with that.

He took it off her and repeatedly hit her over the head with the brick.

Sounds like she was lucky to survive at all.

She was incredibly lucky to survive because this was a sustained assault that went on for quite a long period of time.

Yeah, absolutely.

And the thing was that

He would later say when that case came to trial that he had had 14 points and that he lost control.

But that woman, if he hadn't fallen asleep last night and if she hadn't managed to get out of the apartment, then we don't know how that would have ended.

She did manage to get out.

That detail wasn't heard.
