Yeah, I knew he was great later down the lines before I was a bit younger. So I don't remember it vividly, the times when he played for the Dolphins, but I still can recall like memories back in the day when he played with the Chiefs and I knew instant greatness right away. So that's when I realized the type of play he was.
I don't got no sacks. Yeah, he got the upper stat on me right there. I ain't getting no sacks on the QB yet. That's a stat I'm trying to accumulate as well.
Yeah, you know, I could say I help along the lines of the sacks. You know, I could put my name in it for sure. Help the guys get some pressure a little bit. You know, they help me as well, too. But, you know, my coverage in the back end helps a lot, too. So you can say that.
I mean, that's a good question. Obviously, everybody got their tears of corners. I mean, I think I solidified myself consistently these past couple of years. So I could definitely say I'm at the top of the game right now, honestly, for myself. But yeah, Stingley, he's had a great year, all-pro year. He's a great cornerback. Jalen Ramsey, another dude that's been doing consistently. Sauce Garner.
Those guys, for sure. Slay, you know. I don't know. It's just a lot of good corners in the league that you could put in that class for sure because, you know, with the league now, it's transcends the passing game, so you need a lot of good corners in this league. So, I mean, you could name a whole bunch, and you know it couldn't be wrong, so...
Yeah, I believe so. I think my tape speaks for itself. What I've been able to do this year, holding number one receivers, like under 30 yards, damn every game. So I think the stats, the tape, the measurable speaks for itself. So why not?
No, I wasn't. I wasn't better than him just yet. But it was it was a great experience. It was moments that I would cherish forever being able to be by side, you know, seeing him coach, you know, at a high level and him building young kids and turning them into young men is pretty inspirational to look at it from that perspective. Because, I mean, he wasn't just coaching me.
He was coaching a band of younger guys as well, too. So seeing that and being a part of that process and experience, I enjoyed it. And it's something I'll take with me forever. You know, hopefully we'll cross ties again, maybe. But, you know, who knows? Was he hard on you? Did he yell at you? Yeah, of course. He'll tell you himself. He was definitely hard on me.
You know, I learned a lot from those experiences. You know, it was something that made me better as a player and as a person. those tough learning lessons that I learned from him. It just made me become wiser, and I understood that, you know, he wanted what's best for me at the end of the day.
You know, I mean, you need some tough, constructive criticism to reach to this point, and I wouldn't want it any other way. So I'm very thankful for that, for sure.
I'll just give you a gauntlet from this year. I had some pretty good receivers. First game, I started off with DK Metcalf. You know his body of work. You know, he's one of the different receivers who could lift the whole weight room. One of them extraterrestrial receivers. So... I just think that was the that was the first first one was OK.
I know I gotta gauntlet coming up this year then shoot the next week I had George Pickens. Obviously he put his name out there this year for sure. May plays for them boys on his on that playoff run. Then I had to go up against Mike Evans.
Then, you know, Mike Evans, he a Hall of Famer, does it consistently each and every year. Then Garrett Wilson. Then the list goes on. Then I went up against Jamar.
I think I had a dad had a tough one, I got to be honest. I'm just going through the schedule, man. Before the season, I'm like, okay, I know which receivers I got to go up against this year. So it was definitely a – I was up for the challenge. So, yeah, I was looking forward to it for sure.
I ain't going to lie, I can't even talk about that game, man. I ain't going to lie. That was a game that haunted me for the next weeks after because I wasn't expecting that. Obviously, I was going home, was expecting a good game, you know, going to see family. You know, I had like 20-plus, 30-plus family members there. You know what I mean? And even Pop showed up before the game, too.
So I was excited. I was ready to put on a show then. Next thing you know, the game just, like, went left. And I look up, it was about 50, then it went to 70. I'm like, man, I'm done with this game. I can't even be as excited anymore to see him because, you know, we put up that performance.
But, you know, I think I felt, you know, instant relief and gratification when I was able to see family members. That made my day much better. So, yeah, that's the experience I don't want to relive ever again.
Your dad did.
Yeah, it was over. Bad thing about it was it was humid. It was hot. We was getting whooped in the sun.
At least we put 20. I mean, shoot.
That was it. Yeah, I don't remember that one. I don't. Yeah, man. Sorry, Dan.
