I just think it's very funny because that is the most one-sided argument about a subject that's ever been presented on any podcast.
There's no representative of the gambling industry making a counter argument to all the wild things I was saying.
Um, I haven't listened to it for a long time, but I imagine I would stand by at least the vast majority.

It's maybe the first good thing that's ever happened as a result of gambling and gambling advertising in sport.
I mean, it genuinely like just a very brief detour into this topic, which is like the levels of insidiousness of this are really serious.
Like, I don't know whether what we, the conversation we had before was before or after the Ivan Tony thing happened where Ivan Tony got in.

He gets into fairly significant trouble for gambling in a way that I think could reasonably be described as like normal gambling.
He wasn't betting on his team to lose and then scoring own goals.
You know, he was just doing a thing you can't do.
And like whilst wearing gambling sponsorships shirts, you know, the kind of dysfunctional, the kind of impossible to square circle.
of the relationship between gambling and sport in terms of the amount of money that comes from gambling into sport.
And if you look at the kind of origin of most professional sports,
gambling's in the mix right from the very beginning of their existence especially why cricket and boxing exist is because people want to have something to gamble on um and obviously like horse racing that's the only reason it exists um and um in cricket there's this vast amounts of gambling sponsorship and then there are all these like really small leagues all around the world where there's like a pretty questionable amount of influence being brought to bear on the
outcome of results.
