There are many secular marriages, so you don't have to do anything religious related. And it sounds like a big difficulty that you have, could be the number one, is the wedding. That public declaration could happen 50 times over 50 years. It is up to you. So that is you and your partner navigating that space. With regard to getting out of it. This is the single biggest change that we need in marriages. Marriages, in my opinion, should be much harder to get into. You shouldn't be able, like literally, you and your partner could go to Vegas, drive up, so drive through.
