We think that's probably a bit further down Chip Street, but that the church itself is one of the earliest church foundations in in Dublin.

Yeah, I mean, if you're looking for the sexy story you go into Lidl and you can see the uh you know, the condensed um version of the results, you know, interpreting the the Viking house and the church and the rest.

What's in the book is is how we arrived at those conclusions through all the the different information from the excavation on the ground and then the the huge amount of specialist work that's done afterwards with all the finds and the samples and the um environmental um remains, etcetera But yeah, there's a it definitely it was very challenging to unpick what we found over there because it's not like we just opened up the ground and we had a medieval church sitting there waiting for us, you know.

Yeah.

There'd been centuries of development on the site all the way through, you know.

So what we ultimately found was evidence for a very early church going into the the eleventh century.

So we found a b huge lime kiln that was used to build one of the earliest churches in Dublin.

And interestingly, tying in with what Grace had just been saying,

It wasn't until the fourteenth century, so the end of the thirteen hundreds, that we see the church being rebuilt much more substantially.

And this is it's a parish church, so it feeds into what Grace is saying, much more interest in the the parish structure at that time.

Not only that, but we see the graveyard expanding hugely as well.

And the graveyard expands so much that it starts to swallow what we believe was the previous Viking at High Burner North suburb, where we get the sunken the sunken house you can see in Little.

Um so all of these these changes over time.

are visible and then the whole thing is is kind of cut through and chopped up by sellers that are that are built in the seventeenth century.

So it's a lot of unpicking to do.

But it's not only the glass floor that you can see in Little, uh in the shop floor, where you can see very clearly the the the Viking house laid out, but in this the the back of house in the storeroom and the loading bay of Little, the church is still there beneath the ground.

So it's covered over with metal doors, but at certain times during the year these are opened up for display to the public.

Uh with cemeteries, um absolutely, yeah.

Uh more so than most other kind of sites you'll you'll excavate because you have that um obviously that ethical concern for the individual and also the the the the the delicate nature of what you're digging as well.
