This is my position now, let's say, go back four or five months ago.
I didn't think Kilkenny would be, to be honest, would be as poor in the championship as they were.
and thus put pressure on Derek in his position.
So I think that will come a bit soon.
I was surprised he made the jump in one year because it may create a little bit of imbalance in the whole thing.
But I'd say from a Kilkenny perspective, as a young hurler or a person on the panel already, you'd have to be delighted.
You'd have to be delighted that the most successful player in your county's history is taking the reins.
And taking the reins in a tough situation, which means he's not shying away from it.
So he's coming in, he's coming in at potentially...
probably the most pressurising situation as a Licheney manager that we'd know in recent history.
Is that fair to say more for like, I don't think Licheney have been in this position, they haven't for the last two decades, you know, in this kind of position where it's perceived crisis, you know what I mean, that we haven't won in a long time and,
the way the championship unfolded this year was poor.
So now he's taken the reins.
And that's admirable in itself, I have to say.
Because sometimes managers can step into the position when things are going grand and there's not huge pressure, whereas this is the opposite.
So I'd be watching him with watchful eyes.
I hope he doesn't do a great job.
