you know, berserk because I was uh referring so many of our clients into the small business Saturday program only to find out franchises weren't allowed.

And it wasn't until uh the actual day of the event

uh five years ago and I went all over Twitter and this was after being interviewed by the Wall Street Journal and Inc.

magazine and and entrepreneur magazine that couldn't believe what was actually going on.

And uh I went on Twitter and said that franchise would just stop immediately taking the American Express card and I

promptly got a message on Twitter from a senior VP at American Express asking me to call her.

We had a great conversation and I met with thirteen senior executives of American Express shortly afterwards

I was really amazed and that they just didn't understand franchising the model they thought basically franchising was McDonalds.

Um they were the big corporate behemoths.

They were even had the misperception that um McDonalds paid for all the advertising that is done at the local level.

It was just one miscue after another.

And I you know, and I think that's still carrying on today, not only with American Express but you know, obviously city council up in Seattle and other federal agencies that really don't understand

uh franchising uh the way it is.

So anyway, all the people that supported franchising and shop franchise on Small Business Saturday, I really thank you.

I thank you for all your kind words, your encouragement as I really went on a barrage again just trying to uh uh have people recognize

franchising as the great small business uh that it is.

Yeah, disappointingly, um IFA has taken a back seat in this effort.

Uh even five years ago when the VP uh executive VP contacted me, I reached out to IFA.

Um and and literally wanted to hand it over to them.

And um they basically said no they weren't interested at that time.
