We should have our own sovereignty.
We should defend
I I I I think we're lucky to a certain extent at the moment, is that we can start afresh.
And a lot of the threats that we have now are things like intelligence or things like cybersecurity and like drones.
So therefore we don't necessarily have to invest in maybe the last decades technology of the big shiny uh technology to be able to defend what we need.
But there's a cost to not defending ourselves.
And this is really important.
So we spent i the cyber uh uh attack on the HSC cost this country
hundred million euros.
Never mind the the let the number of people who actually had their lives significantly disimproved because the health service didn't work for them.
Now at the time the the Department of the Taoiseach spent more money on press
than actually the Cybersecurity Centre got on its annual budget.
So just to put this in context, you know, the h the the the level of uh priority that the government has in our defence is tiny and our defence forces are are corroding at a fierce rate and it will cost us more in the long run if we don't stand up.
Do you
There's two thousand fewer defence personnel than there was when Fine Gael came into power in twenty eleven.
There's four fewer ships.
If that's not the corrosion of the organization.
Now Finegale are great to say we are going to di to this, but if you take the feature tense out of the English language, Fine Gael are silent.
What I mean is like everything is in the future.
Everything like and we they stand on the record of what they've done in the last fifteen years.
