Goodbye for now.
science journalists, yeah.
And that increase, especially, is why some people are wondering what's going on here.
And there are claims that ADHD is a sort of made-up condition or a social construct.
Uh spoiler, it's not.
But that's what we're diving into on this episode of The World, the Universe and Us from New Scientist.
I'm Dr.
Penny Sarchet.
Hi.
Hello.
Alex, let's start with you.
You commissioned a piece from Caroline in response to the Channel Four documentary, The Great ADHD Myth.
Um, what were you thinking here and and what was it that the show said?
Yeah, so um ADHD is now sort of recognized uh now that we study it more in in girls and women, it's more likely to be inattentive in in girls in the classroom rather than hyperactive and bouncing off the walls, which is that sort of male stereotype.
And um Katja, you're a neuroscientist.
Could you tell us a bit about what we know about what happens in the brains of people who have ADHD?
Caroline, one point you made in your piece, uh that I thought was really pertinent is it's only ADHD.
It's only got the D at the end if it's a disorder.
Yes.
