You know, so using your child's truth and exactly where they are in this moment to set expectations is huge because you get to succeed, your child gets to succeed, you have a win win, you know, where as as an authoritarian parent
You win and your child loses.
If you have an authoritarian relationship, your child never wins.
ever.
They're only doing what you've commanded of them if they're even able to meet that expectation.
So, you know, that whole collaborative approach of Ross Greens is really important.
The book, How to Talk to Your Kids So They'll Listen and How to Listen So They'll Talk, which isn't exactly right.
I don't think it doesn't sound right, but it's close.
And that, you know, that kind of goes into the same, you know, it's very much in the same vein as Ross Green's teachings.
And, you know, all of that stuff that I had already read was exactly what all of these adults were telling me that they needed.
Or, you know, some of them had it as a child.
And they talked about how great it was, you know, how they felt like they could be themselves, how they were able to, you know, really find
their interests and what they wanted to do with their life that way because they were allowed to explore
So, you know, it just really reinforced for me that knowing my child very intimately and
why he does the things he does, why he struggles in the ways he that he does was paramount to my success.
It it you know, it taught me the appropriate ways
to approach, you know, my parenting with him.
