That's one.
Um, two, is figures from traditions that are well studied, but who aren't kind of the most prominent figures in those traditions.
So for example, any medieval philosopher other than Thomas Aquinas
And of course there are hundreds and hundreds of them.
Aquinas is the only one who's famous, which doesn't really make any sense, actually, philosophically or historically.
I mean, he's great, but there's a whole bunch of others that are great too.
Um, and often, by the way, women fall into this category, right?
Because pre-modern or even pre-twentieth century female philosophers are almost always considered to be m quote unquote minor, right?
In uh scroll.
Scholarship.
So um that would be the actually that would be the third category.
So you have sort of um the idea of covering non-Western figures, the idea of covering minor figures.
who are men, and then you have the idea of covering so called minor figures who are women.
And these three things kind of feed into the project of the podcast.
So what I'm trying to do is uh do a history of philosophy that gets all of those traditions and figures in, which doesn't usually get done.
Sure.
Well, actually you g you kind of gave the answer there as part of your question.
It's effectively the same as the concept of the Islamicate, which I take to be, roughly speaking, the areas of the world where Islam has political dominion.
