While I recommend this book to all listeners, I must caution you about its tone, as it wasn't written by a biologist or a science historian.
Sometimes the author is careless with taxonomic terminology.
For example, the Hesperidae is a family of butterflies, not a genus.
Frankly, I don't think that Walter Marsh likes or approves of natural history museums very much, and he treats the life of Sir Joseph Banks as if he was some sort of privilege.
I suspect the author suffers from what some comedians now call presentism, the belief that modern values are the only way to interpret historical events.
If I'm correct, it might do Walter Marsh some good to return to nineteen sixty-six and listen to Bob Lynn sing about chasing the bright elusive butterfly of love.
