I had a major milestone birthday recently, so I'm going out in sympathy.
Well, out of 13,400 in total, only 127.
have played beyond the age of 35.
And four of them played for two clubs post that age.
So it's a pretty unique group.
Well, the four double-ups.
Sid Barker, after whom the North Best and Fairest medal is known, he played after 35 for North and also for Essendon when he was captain coach.
John Rantel, South Melbourne and Fitzroy.
And more recently, two of the old-timers, Paul Salmon,
and Todd Goldstein, a pretty special company.
We'll get to number one is Vic Cumberland from St Kilda in 1920.
He was 43, and we'll get to him later on.
Number two, it's never had much in the way of publicity, but the second oldest player of all time was Dustin Fletcher, the only other one to hit 40.
Then we've got a couple of old-timers.
Jack Leith at Melbourne was 39.
