was at Old Trafford and obviously I signed for Liverpool there and it was early days and people said I wasn't good enough to play for England and this and that.
And then I come on, I remember Old Trafford and got booed by my own fans.
I don't even remember it, England fans, yeah.
And I was coming on and obviously that's our place to be, right?
So I'm coming on, my mum's in the crowd and dad, I'm thinking about them really, thinking about them getting upset about that.
And I don't know whether it's a Liverpool-Man United thing or whether fans thought it wasn't good enough to play for.
And there was a lot of journalists who wrote things about me that were very anti-me fan for England.
But then obviously I started scoring and then I didn't really stop scoring really.
It was good.
And then I changed people's opinions and then I knew what I'm quite good at is understanding where I kind of fit.
in regards to, you've got Rooney and Owen, they're better players than me.
And I knew that Darren Bench, Jermaine Defoe, Carlton Kyle, whoever the players were behind me, if I'm ahead of them, I'm going to get games.
So that's the way I looked at my England career.
And I think it was good that I understood where I sat in it, you know, and then to be ready when I was called upon.
That was hard, but only because it wasn't as hard for me because I put myself in that position, but I don't look like a footballer, right?
And I never have done.
And when I was a kid, you know, you get people that... What was it like?
What were our parents like when they saw you coming up?
Oh, mate.
If I scored goals, it was like, well, he's four years older.
