So there are other people, I'm sure, in this country who feel the same way, that things are going very badly and something ought to be done to stop it.
But where are they?

They're not in the civil service.
They're not in senior posts in the universities.
They're not leading the political parties.
They're not by and large prominent in the media, particularly the broadcast media, which is to anybody remotely informed or with any historical knowledge, listening to our broadcast media is torture.
No, but I can't.
It might in 10 years still have managed to teeter along like the train in the USS film.
No one will actually manage to get it off the rails.
It might still survive.
You can't tell.
What I'm getting at is something else.
Predictions are easy in general, but they're hard in terms of how long it's going to take.
Tell me more.
All my comrades in the late 60s and early 70s were rather hoping for a collapse out of which might arise the longed-for revolution with the leading role of the party and the establishment of the dictatorship of the proletariat.
That was the theory.
It was all going to go wrong.
And I have to say, Ted Heath in the early 70s made it look very much as if we were right.
He kept trying to shut the country down, pick huge fights with industrial unions, and so nothing worked.
