So, yeah, everyone's happy.
Well, you know, we've been talking to Caelan and his dad for about three weeks now.
We made a decision as a club that we'd like to extend his contract if we could.
uh we approached that with them uh kaylan uh right from the get-go said that he was going to commit um if we could sort it out and uh one one thing that kayla made clear to me as we got into the uh discussions was that every contract that he's ever signed has been the subject of uh high public attention and uh media discussion and uh he wanted to do it confidentially and
He had a goal that he wanted to be able to stand up in front of his teammates and tell them that he'd extended his contract with the club without all the speculation.
And I gave him my word that we would respect that.
So once I gave him my word and that's what he wanted, well, we kept it to a very narrow group of people.
Just blink once.
We based it on what Parramatta used to pay their greats.
My personal view is he's very important.
He's extremely important.
He's a great player.
When he's at the top of his game, he's one of the very elite players of the game.
We have some real designs to win a premiership.
That's what we'd love to do one day for the people of Newcastle.
I think you're more chance of winning a competition with Caelan Ponger as part of your team than
not having him as part of our team.
And he's heavily committed to the direction the club's going.
