It's, you know, the opposite of what,
Some people would refer to as virtue signaling, this idea that back during, quote unquote, peak woke, folks would really try to signpost to signal how good of a person they were.
And sometimes it was earnest and sometimes it was probably rather cynical.
I think in response to that on the right, particularly in conservative new media, this phenomenon of vice signaling has taken hold, where to prove that you're a member of the in-group, to prove that you're like a loyal MAGA believer, you just have to be as viciously cruel and monstrously, frankly, evil as possible, whether that be making fun of immigrants who get deported, trafficking and just like the most egregious racial slurs that you could think of.
And then like like what we're discussing today, also making up totally unfounded, evidenceless accusations that someone is gay or trans.
Think of Candace Owens saying that Brigitte Macron, Emmanuel Macron's wife is like secretly a trans man or trans woman.
Think of everything we discussed today about the gay allegations.
This is just their bread and butter now.
