It does feel as if perhaps the public are ready for a politician with dementia

impotence and the courage to basically say, look, you know, the current system doesn't work.

We have to do something.

This is the only realistic way we can do it.

And quite a lot of MPs are going to lose their seats.

And that will not make you a popular party leader.

And that's something he really, really needs to understand.

Think about you'll be leading your troops basically over the top of the trenches into the gunfire and knowing a lot of them wouldn't make it.

That is quite tricky.

I mean, in terms of an early election, it depends what your definition of early is.

We don't officially have to have one till mid-2029.

It's possible if things, you know, stay good for the Burnham project, then having one in 2028 wouldn't necessarily be seen as early.

You know, he's been quite definitive in ruling it out.

My instinct is to certainly go in the next year or 18 months would be very, very risky.

You know, Reform UK do have problems at the moment, but they're still leading in a lot of polls.
